Sanya, historically known as Yazhou and also called Deer City, is a prefecture-level city in southern Hainan and China’s southernmost tropical coastal tourism city. Located at the golden vacation latitude of 18° north, it has a tropical maritime monsoon climate, warm and hot throughout the year, with high-quality bay beaches. It is home to scenic spots such as Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay, and Wuzhizhou Island, with the Nanshan Sea Guanyin statue serving as a landmark. With a long history and rich Li ethnic culture, Yazhou is the ancient name of the area.
